		<description>I have only been to a few academic conferences (musicology) but your description amuses me greatly.  My favorite part is sitting in the lobby of the hotel playing "Here for the Conference, Not Here for the Conference" judging purely by how the passers-by are attired.  

As the last conference I attended was in Los Angeles, and the choice of passers-by was "Here for the Conference, Here for the Awards Ceremony," the game was a little too easy.</description>
